My Daily Devotional - Inspiration "He Still Loves Me"

I think I listened to this song 10 times today.  I was still the first five times, I cried, and I prayed.

Understand, I am not sad.  I am connecting and cleansing.

I Was Fired!!! Blood, Sweat, & Tears

My blood my sweat and my tears
Painted the corporate walls when my boss fired me
Executed me as If I didn't  matter
Sacrifice and brain matter spattered on his white collar and blue tie
See when they hired me
They didn't want a higher me
They wanted me to
Take pick be one of the Zeros in my paycheck and act beneath thee
Stick my talents in my pocket iron out my grammar and eat the
Political ish everyone is full of

Brothers and sisters I feel your pain we punch clocks to be in a workforce with people we want to punch and clock  just the same

Filter our personalities while we sneak statuses on Facebook and tweet desk pics of our Bordem (naang)

Feeling like Eddie Cain replaced by Flash it's lonely at the top
But everybody on me is what drug me to the bottom

The day I was fired my face wrinkled with the irony from the words they chose to fire me.

Poor performance.

Was it the app I put on my iPhone to check my work email 24-7 my family background noise while trying to fill my bosses competence void poor performance

Or perhaps the ideas that drove production put dollars back in the budget poor performance? What about being sick but willing myself to still make it to work poor performance. Mr boss man please explain it because all the winnings and innings I batted for the home team you claimed it my
stats don't say it but we both know you went about it wrong

Or maybe I did

Maybe poor performance means I didn't play the role act  my part
Perhaps my employee handbook should have come with a sag card because you wanted me to water down my abilities so in less intimidating

Everyday my intelligence and fortitude emasculated you
undressed you
and exposed you so everyone could see your punk ass

And I did this with class and a polish with such brilliant swag dressed for success so good I was bad
Stupid sick with it famously quick witted
So Poor performance next to my name is an oxymoron
And you are obviously a moron because my biggie made you small
Notoriously me b.i.g black intelligent girl baby baby
Round the way girl well rehearsed my bamboo earrings in my purse because I wouldn't dare wear two pair at work

My children thank you
For your homicide of the corporate me
Returning me to my family reborn domestically
Freakishly ambitious as my Husband and me his misses have threesomes with my hustle the mistress

I had to get past the aftermath of dying in the eyes of judas
It wasn't enough I had fallen on the sword countless times and That my DNA was in his bottom line

My boss we'll call him Bill put a bullet in the head of the bride.
Walked me out the front door a new age Beatrix kiddeux

With fleeting thoughts of going postal... Just thoughts though
Take your hands off your cellphones in not crazy
Just another victim of shady
Corporate murder

He fired me
After I spent tireless hours sacrificing work life balance and sanity
When they hired me they didn't want a hire me
Poor performance
No Oscar no tony
Just a nomination for the unemployment line
His intelligence couldn't match mine and instead of focusing on his career he put match to mine
Giving me no choice but to let it burn
Brother and sisters I learned for our sanitys for our health we must work hard for our self
We will build someone else's wealth for a fraction of a fraction to keep to ourself

I offer you a brighter me
Enlightened and lighter me
Burned at the stake of my company
A testimony of being fired
Burnt me like a Salem witch
After all I've done
Ain't this a b***!
But the lesson I learned priceless
Like a Phoenix I fly above the murderous masses
No shame on these wings shakin off the ashes
Cheers to you lift your glasses
Pour some out slow
Blackberry molasses
For those who've lost in this same struggle
To break me
They tried
Attempted homicide
Negligent hit and run
Then hide
Double jeopardize how I live my life
His cockiness
Rocked me dead between the eyes
Fired
Like I never mattered
Brain matter on his white collar and blue tie
Bruised my ego
Wounded my pride
But much to their surprise
My dreams still alive
There's no damn business in this world I'll have be my life line
Pumpin me like an iv bs they tried to feed me
I be the the boss of this hear baby
Yes I'm gone eat my cornbread
The mashed potatoes the chicken and the gravy
Train me but don't think you'll run a train on me
Drain me then blame me
For why you gotta tke me into an alley with your arm around me
Shoot me un suspeexpecting
Or when in not looking
Isaid I too sing America
While you sing soprano
Caged bird blown her coop
Didn't cluck out though
No I mean clock out
So I'll charge that to your game
Snake eyes on your loaded dice
Lies on your website
My name may never be on you payroll or any of your buildings
But my blood sweat and tears paint your walls
DNA in your bottom line and on your hands
You'll reap the seeds of your grime
And that company will forever feel me
A cold case
Of blood sweat and tears

  5. Maria McNair - Breast Cancer Survivor - Maria was diagnosed with aggressive Breast Cancer just a year after she graduated from college.  She was barely 25 when she was told she had to have a double mastectomy (both breasts removed).  Maria since then, beat her Cancer, received her Master's degree and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

I am still working as there are things left to do, but as they develop I will be sure to share them.

All That Jam Can Say

Well Well Well...Ya Girl Pinky has a Brain!

Who Would've THUNK IT?

So, a late night/early morning brought forth lyrics and thoughts that I rarely just upload and share, but hey - we all need a break from all the stuff you've been getting from me recently.  I change it up a lot...Don't I?  I have people who ask me all the time to break down the thought process behind my lyrics so here we go.

All That I Can Say...

I am an avid fan of Lauryn Hill (L.Boogie) and could hear her all over this song before I knew she wrote it for Mary J. Blige.  This song carries good and bad memories, but when I was browsing the Internet I ran across the song.  I am notorious for arranging and rearranging songs as I hear them. I add my own extra and background vocals as I hear them in my head.

I was a saxophonist in band for 12 years. I did Marching, Jazz, Concert, and Pep...I understand music pretty well.

I never claim myself to be a singer. You will hear hooks I sing and what not, because I don't have anyone around to sing my demos and ideas so I have to.  My preference is to leave that to people who excel in this area.  The writing is my wheelhouse.

On to the lyrics:

 "Jam Session"

All That Jam Can Say

Y'all ain't never heard spoken word like this
Y'all aint never heard me rhyme or sing like this

It's Jams new take - Mary Blige/Lauryn Hill So Lick Two shots to the atmosphere (2x)

Verse 1
Around the way girl to the Nth of her power
Concrete Flower
Desert Rose - I'mma
Empower the world, with a pen in my hand
1 rhyme pad, 1 Mic Stand
All that I can say is, I speak what I feel
Elevation of Land
Man, I rock "hills"
Sing in my valleys - Eye with storm
Spoken Word Poem
Repeat em like you know em
My life is like Show & Tell
the reason why we vibe so well
Is Cuz I don't, blow smoke

Breaking down the theory in verse 1:

I am basically just saying that I'm a regular person. An around the way girl, but to the Nth of my power. Mainly is a comment towards striving to always meet and maximize my potential.  We are all "Ordinary people" What makes us extraordinary is the extra Umph or in this case...the Nth..of your power.

How many roses have you seen in a desert?  It's just a comment on the impossible and basically being born into burning sands.  That's life right?

Lauryn Hill is the writer and composer of this song. So I reference the word "Hill" a lot.  By definition - a hill is an "Elevation of land".  Life is full of peaks and valleys...hills and valleys - however you heard this phrase.  So basically this is just the prose of a spoken word artist talking to anyone that this resonates with as they go through life's "Hills" and valleys.  My life is like Show & Tell, speaks to YouTube yes, but largely because I am a writer, poet, whatever --- I am pretty transparent.  You can know a lot about my life and my struggles just by hearing my music or reading my poetry.  I don't blow smoke means, I won't sell you no BS.

All the words I say (do do do, it is the truth)
with this spoken game (do, do, do, do, do)
All That I can Say
I speak, I rhyme, I sing (do do do, it is the truth)

Breaking down the Chorus:

Pretty Self Explanatory right? - Thought So

NEXT!

Verse 2

They said I couldn't do it
but I proved to be FLY
and when the passed me the mic for the word - I o"bliged"
I, JamPoet, deliverer and giver
spoken word spitter
to legit to quite - I'm
hard as a hammer
yet light as a rock
non stop Prospa
Chief SHE-ROCKA
Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook
Pon on de River
CheckMate
Mic Check
Contract Killer
Strategist
Planner
Moonwalk
Dancer
Feel it throw your hands up
69 Cancer...
Cheeba Cheeba
Rockin' With the Libra
heart of a Lion
But a Leader...I'm a shepherd
1 Fish - 2 Fish
I provide the feast with
Water in my rhyme in the flow I never cease
But the beast will at least give the heat that we need
and esteem that we need to resurrect a fallen breed

Breaking down the Theory in Verse 2 - "WHAT THE HECK IS SHE TALKIN BOUT!? LOL"

Of course saying that I O"Bliged" was a subliminal shout out to Mary. I spoke of myself, but she really has sung me through "My Life" boy has she been through it too.  The line Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook is of course a metaphor for Chess.  Life is all about strategy whether we like it or not. We are trying to make it across the board for a CheckMate - Whatever that means in a person's life.  Moonwalk Dancer references my struggle for height, elevation.

Where I always will slip in my spiritual beliefs is somewhere in the pocket of any rap song or poem. A person who knows the word gets the reference.

Things like I'm a shepherd.  David was but a mere Shepherd. (I won't preach - )
1 Fish, 2 Fish is elementary - some would think Oh, Dr. Seuss. But I am talking of God being a great provider and making an abundance out of what seems to be nothing. Instead of Water into Wine, I spoke about Water in my Rhyme. As always, I let him speak through me and all things being relative. There's a lot of the "word" in everything we do.  I'm not a 100% Saint, but I sure as heck am not 100% Sinner.

Spoken Word:

There's a spoken word artist that can extract the thoughts in your head
and the pain in your heart
a one eared painter
a deaf Mozart
They're gifted, artistic, intuitive, individuals
Samsons between the pillars
Moses & Deliverers
Parting the waters of Mainstream
with a higher power on their side
they walk through the divide
of indifference and ignorance
A spoken word artist or an Underground INDEPENDENT
Can construct a Lyric
out of the debris of their grief
and when they speak...
It's for You and for Me
All that I can say is
What I speak is really real
My words echo through your valley
as I rock on this "Hill"
My words echo through your valley
as I rock on Ms. Hill
My words echo through your valley
as I rock on this "Hill"

Ahhhh - This is my favorite part...Spoken Word

So I speak of One Eared  Painter most people are are considered really great artist are tortured geniuses. There's a lack of appreciation for people who have a gift for the spoken and written word. Typically they are just that...tortured geniuses. They paint pictures with their words.  Verbal Van Gogh.
Then of course Mozart. Deaf. But the passion and movement in his compositions was nothing short of brilliance.

Here comes another biblical reference: Samson between the pillars.  Samson known for his strength and his long hair was betrayed and weakened by someone he let close to his heart.  His final plea to do the will of God, was to stand between the pillars and have them fall on all those who are evil.  Not that I was referencing destruction. However spoken word artist again...strong, yet under-appreciated and always at the mercy of mainstream betrayal. So blind...they are standing between the pillars...Don't we also reference Hip Hop as Having Pillars? - Food For Thought.

Moses - We know the story of the Red Sea, so parting the waters of mainstream is that reference with regard of walking through the divide of Indifference and Ignorance.

Lastly, I say the words echo in your valley - as I rock on this "Hill" - Last reference to Lauryn Hill - Elevation of Land, and referring to my desire to teach while at my height to minister to the ones at their lowest point.

THAT'S IT.  I'm Tired. Zip Fizz depleted. I will go into a coma now and not be this smart when I wake up. LOL

You know the drill...

It's Ya Girl,

Philly

Atkins Induction Trial

I decided to do two weeks of the trial mainly because my arms were not leaning the way I want them to.  I wish I could show pics of my rear end without seeming like I am auditioning for a throwback Luke video. lol You will have to take my word for it that Insanity works wonders for the buttocks, legs, and overall fitness appearance of the body. In terms of how I gain weight, the tell tell signs are:

  • Face
  • Arms (Triceps)
  • Breasts
These are the areas that plump up quickly and is an absolute trip to slim down.  I honestly viewed Atkins as more of a fad diet and I have read so many conflicting reviews and studies that you need carbs to work out.  My biggest addictions, vices, weight loss barriers:

  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Carbs
I was eating pretty well, but not realizing I was still taking in too many carbs.  I have one heck of a sweet tooth and the way that I season is pretty heavy in sodium.  Atkins taught me how to cook and take down quite a bit of sodium and sugars in how I prepare my foods.  I got this book from the library and right now it is my holy grail!

I am willing to share with you pictures and recipes.  I will caution you that shopping for these items at Whole Foods have a bit of a hefty price tag on them.  I was really worried that I had paid so much for these items and would hate the taste of them.  I was pleasantly surprised that the food is so delicious and rid of a lot of the bad things I was still putting in my body.I feel much lighter and I am retaining far less fluid during those precious times of the month bestowed on me by "Mother Nature".

Stay tuned! I will share the book and the recipes.
